Did you know that 767 million people around the world live on less than $1.90 per day? And that 385 million are children? For those living in extreme poverty, many don’t have access to a sustainable income or basic necessities—something as simple as a good pair of shoes.
What if the shoes you no longer want could create jobs for people in need? They can! Your shoes can help people in developing nations start and sustain their own small businesses to step out of poverty.
We’re excited to announce that we have joined forces with the non-profit organization Soles4Souls and are launching our own shoe drive to collect pairs of shoes to help Wear Out Poverty.
Since 2006, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 35 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries and are a four-star charity as rated by Charity Navigator. Learn more at soles4souls.org. Soles4Souls utilizes new and gently used shoes as a resource to help entrepreneurs in developing nations with an opportunity to start and sustain small businesses (a micro-enterprise) of their own. Our work will also help Soles4Souls’ ability to distribute brand new shoes to people in need and in times of disaster.
Give your shoes a second life and donate to our shoe drive today! Please bring your new or gently used shoes of any kind to B Building lobby or the Security gate from March 11, 2019 until April 1, 2019.
